Follow...

...your heart and see where it might lead you. - Brandi Carlile

Two months ago, I left a stable corporate job for another kind of stable. In my early late 30's, I have traded an expense account, salary, office, and all that those things imply for the chance to become a real cowgirl.

So many sunny days I spent looking out my window and dreaming of the sound of creaking saddle leather, the distinctive scent of a warm horse, the feel of earth beneath by boots. This page is an attempt to chronicle this journey and how its changing me and the way I see the world - the world I left, the world I am trying to navigate now, and the world I hope to create as a result of this journey.

The more I learn about horses, the more I realize how little I know...about everything. The pasture, arena, round pen and trail are my classroom. The common denominator, and perhaps the reason humans domesticated these glorious creatures and made them partners on this plane, is the way they mirror who we are. Not who we want to be, not how we see ourselves, but how we exist...now. Horses require a level of honesty that few bipeds could ever muster. I intend to explore this connection here.

This is, as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, a grand passion. "It seizes you whole, and once it has done so, you must accept that your life is forever changed." I have been seized; and while that may not be the case for you, my hope is to share something of use as you pursue your grand passions. I welcome your comments and suggestions. Saddle up, and let's go...
